The N-3 cap was part of a utility uniform issued to U.S. Navy personnel. Recipients of the N-3 utility cap included ships personnel, shore parties, construction battalions, amphibious units, combat, and security units.

This reproduction cap has been copied from an original by us. It is made of Olive Drab #3 (OD#3), in 6 panel herringbone twill, heavy stitching and taped cotton seams on the inside just like the originals. There are 'USN', contract & size stamps on the inside, again copied from an original from a now defunct manufacturer. Like the originals it has no external markings unlike the USAAF A-3 version.
Two loops are attached to the inside of the cap on either side of one of the strapping seams that allow the cap to be hung upon a clothes line. The inside of the peak is in green material to prevent glare. Both features are based on original caps!
The cap visor can be worn in the down or up position as the peak is quite stiff and like many originals you can stencil it, paint on it and ink names on it with various symbols or names etc.
Any creases or folds (from the wash and packaging), will disappear over time with use. We have made some small changes to prevent them being passed off as original! Now is you chance to own a good quality reproduction N-3 USN cap!
