On April 1, 1918, the Royal Air Force (RAF) was formed with the amalgamation of the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) and the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS). Standard Officer caps were used with the addition of the new badge.
Perfect for:
- filling a gap in a collection
- cap and hat restorers & replicators
- RAF collectors
- Reenactors and living history
- military cap collectors
- gifts and commemorations
- films & museums
List of features:
The cap is very high quality and made by skilled craftswomen. It is in army tan and has a black cotton liner. There are two ventilation holes each side.
The chinstrap is an actual British military issue re-lacquered and the buttons are cloth covered metal (just like the originals). The badge is the first pattern badge worn by Officers and was replaced soon after with the metal RAF badge.
This is a very rare cap and you can enhance it by adding two brass strips to the front (Second Lieutenant) - these are not included in the sale!
