The battalion was part of the Cavalry Division (6th Army), initially on the Western Front in Lorraine. During the attack on Ypres in October / November 1914, the battalion proved itself at Hollebeke and Zandvoorde. It fought in several other campaigns after this. After moving to Romania in September 1916, the battalion fought successfully near Sibiu . It remained with the Alpine Corps at the end of the war.
