Store > WW2 American Helmets > Airborne Helmets > WW2 USA M1 327th GIR Airborne Helmet
This is a 'Reproine' helmet - mixture of reproduction and genuine parts. The shell is a genuine WW2 McCord helmet. It is a front seam, stainless rim and the main paintwork is also original.
We have added the M1 fixed bales, the 327th 'Clubs' , ETO stripe marking and Officer rank.
Summary of features:
- The shell is original WW2 with replaced fixed bales.
- The 'M1' bales have been added by us.
- The main paintwork is original OD WW2.
- We have added the ETO stripe, Officer rank, Clubs and 1st Battalion 'ticks'.
- Outside Shell is museum waxed and inside left as found.
- There is a small rust hole on the top of shell.
- Front seam stainless rim.
The outside appears to have one or possibly two coat of original paint - untouched by us. There are areas where the cork is clearly visible. We have added the stencils and blended them into the helmet shell.
Inside the shell is untouched and 'as found' other than the addition of the 'fixed' bales. There are a few stress fractures, a feature found on early war US Helmets and lots of rust, although the shell is fully sound, other than a 2mm rusted hole on top.
This helmet is a superb 327th Glider Infantry Regiment Helmet and would look great in any collection.
