Austria-Hungary, often referred to as the Austro-Hungarian Empire or the Dual Monarchy, was a constitutional monarchy and great power in Central Europe between 1867 and 1918. It was formed with the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867, and was dissolved following its defeat in the First World War. The k.u.k. stands for kaiserlich und königlich (imperial and royal) and was used in the Austro-Hungarian empire to refer to empire-wide state institutions.
The badge is 30mm in diameter and 2mm thick. its is made of painted brass. The loop on the reverse is used to attach the badge to the cap. If your new badge is tarnished, just give it a clean with brass cleaner or vinegar and a soft cloth.
This badge was introduced after 1907 and worn by enlisted men throughout WW1.
