Comment from Customer:

My wife does a US Army war correspondent re-enatctment, and I was

Comment from WarHats:

We have a war correspondent stencil on our site which would be ideal
for this. They were painted in white or black. She may want to
consider modelling herself on the famous Lee Miller see Wikipedia and
various other sites.

Comment from Customer:

Hello Warhats.com, I have an old M1 helmet from WWII. After looking at pictures I noticed that the paint on my helmet is a lighter color than the green in the pictures. On further analysis I noticed that there are some chips that reveal the darker paint under the lighter coat. I was wondering is there was a way to sand off the top coat to get to the authentic dark OD coat, or if I should just leave it be. C- USA

Comment from WarHats:

Hi C
Its a bit difficult to say without pictures but generally we would never recommend stripping a helmet unless its been painted some hideous colours that bear no resemblance to its history e.g. 'Hells Angels' helmet.

It sounds like it could be a Vietnam painted helmet with history (light green), so we would strongly recommend leaving it alone.

Comment from Customer:

Do you sell or can you tell me how to make aged tinted lacquer? Received my second order of decals last week and I am very, very impressed. I like to restore helmets, so I will be back. Thanks and best wishes for your business! F - USA

Comment from WarHats:

Hi we use old wood varnish which is nice and yellow in colour, it gives excellent results. However if you plan to do this yourself make sure you test a tiny area of the decal as petroleum based varnishes can destry the decal!

Hi Warhats.com

Have recieved the ss decal and helmet stamp thank
you and wow I am impressed. At least you guys send out what your selling,
XXXXX.com sent me a silver rather than metalic white decal so I'd never
deal off them again being far from whats pictured on their site, very nice move
you guy showing what a customers done restoring with your ss decal rather than the likes of other sites . Anything else you can be sure I'll look at
you guys first. Thank you very much.

Kind regards R - New Zealand

Hello,         Just to say i got your German helmet transfer today,It's very high quality, sure looks good on my m-35 .....Thanks.                                  Regards                             R.C. - UK
Comment from WarHats:

Glad you like it, we strive to make the worlds best and most accurate decals. Its not just about the detail, its about the application of a 'thin' transfer so that it moulds itself to the helmet just as the originals did. You should not be able to feel the transfer once applied!

When trying to REMOVE a repro decal from a helmet, what is the best solvent to use to remove the old glue? Thanks - Bob - USA
Reply from WarHats:

Various methods can be used but generally we find that Acetone works well but if you want to preserve the paint do not rub too hard. Give it a go and let us know the outcome! Thanks WarHats
