The 7th Missouri Volunteer Infantry, commonly known as the "Irish Seventh", was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. In 1864 a battalion of veteran volunteers of the "Irish Seventh was consolidated with a sister Irish regiment, the 30th Missouri Volunteer Infantry (the "Shamrock Regiment") and operated as a "demi-brigade" known popularly as the "Missouri Irish Brigade".

This hat replicates one found after the Siege of Vicksburg. The Siege of Vicksburg (May 18 – July 4, 1863) was the final major military action in the Vicksburg Campaign of the American Civil War. In a series of maneouvers, Union Maj. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant and his Army of the Tennessee crossed the Mississippi River and drove the Confederate Army of Vicksburg led by Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton into the defensive lines surrounding the fortress city of Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Genuine kepis are extremely rare and command very high prices when they do come on the market. This is an opportunity to buy a reproduction kepi at an affordable price but with the look and feel of the genuine article. Our kepis are probably the best reproductions currently available.

This civil war kepi represents one worn by an officer of the 7th Missouri Volunteer Infantry. It is severely battle damaged, most likely from an artillery round shrapnel. We have made it to look museum repaired for display purposes, this cap like the original would have been, is extremely fragile.   The list of features are:

This is best displayed on a plain, glass or plastic mannequin head or similar but can be displayed free-standing.
