R101 Officers Cap White Topped:
R101 Airship Officers Cap
This is a extremely high quality 'Reproine' (Reproduction/Genuine) Officers cap as worn by the Officers on board the R101 Airship.
The cap is genuine and probably from around the 1940's or 1950's period but is in excellent condition, having been worn probably only a few times. It has a dark blue top and all the following features are genuine: The patent leather chinstrap, the cloth covered buttons, the peak and manufacturer label etc. We have not aged the cap.
The following has been added by us: the aged white top cover and the aged R101 reproduction badge.
The label is particularly interesting it says 'E. Braggins & Sons Ltd', '28-30-32 SILVER STREET and HARPUR STREET BEDFORD'. The company stopped trading in 1968 and traded from approximately 1885, selling
high value products, such as mink jackets, cocktail dresses and of course caps.
Bedford of course is only 3 miles away from Cardington the base of several airships including the R101.
Once this cap is sold we are unlikely to get another - we received this from an old cap maker in Luton, UK.
