Refurbishment > WW2 German Ckl (ET) 64 Heer Helmet - Refurbishment
WW2 German ET64 Heer (Army) single decal attic found Helmet - Refurbishment:
This helmet was found in an attic in Arnhem, Netherlands, not quite the typical 'barn find' but the next best thing. This helmet has been untouched for 70+ years and we had to have it after seeing its features: Ckl (Eisenhüttenwerk Thale) batch number 2849 (1943 production), maker marked chinstrap and owners name on the liner. Original paintwork in places.
But out main reason for buying it was to try and clean, restore and protect it as best we could. There are many deep pits on it and losts of rust, so it will never look pristine but we hope to have it looking great for display.
Needless to say all the leatherwork was extremely brittle, dry and fragile, something that cannot be reversed but we have made it cleaner and more supple whilst protecting it for the future.
