This reproduction cap has been made to replicate one worn by an Officer in the Waffen-SS during WW2. It is heavily worn, moth eaten and aged and could have been used on Western or Eastern fronts!
The insignia is museum quality and both eagle and death heads skull insignia show medium to heavy wear. It is a size 61/62 and we recommend this as a display piece and not for wear. Treat it like an original. The Officer chinstrap has age related wear and the base leather is showing through in places. This cap represents a promotion from NCO to officer as the headband is not velvet.
The leather sweat band is in very worn and dirty condition and the celluloid sweat protector has heavy age colouring. There are wear stains on the inside with some darker areas and patches of white mould.
The white piping is lightly dirty and yellowing but still white. The leather peak, has many large age cracks & marks on both sides. There is some age related dust in places. There are small amounts of wear and discolouration to the outer headband. There are many moth holes across the cap - these are genuine moth holes!
A genuine Waffen SS Officers cap in this condition will easily go for thousand's of pounds, which is out of the price range of most average collectors. This one looks the part and is at a snip of a price. Great for filling a collection.
