The German Coastal artillery was part of the Kriegsmarine concerned with operating anti-ship artillery or fixed gun batteries in coastal fortifications during WW2.
It had the task of defending roadways and port entrances against enemy ships and preventing the advance of an enemy landing army. It therefore consisted of coastal guns, the sea front guns, which stand on the sea fronts of the coastal works, and the land front guns.
