Cap worn by the Austria-Hungary (Austro-Hungarian), Army (Alpine Mountain Infantry), during WW1. This version has the 'FJI' painted brass badge (Franz Joseph I of Austria) and painted buttons. Worn by the 'Common Army', Landwehr and Hungarian Honvéd. If you like a snug fit order your correct head size, if you like a loose fit order a size larger! (The side badges and feathers are not included in the sale).

This cap was not issued, it was produced by unit tailors or privately purchased. There were several different versions each with different features. Like the original it is based on, it has no liner and the buttons and fold down flap are non-functioning. It has a pocket on the left hand side to hold the feathers of the mountain troops.
