Formed in 1871 Royal Engineers were trained as electricians and as divers. They learned the safe handling of explosives and the use of defensive mines. They were disbanded in 1907.

In 1905 Parliament decided to abolish submarine mining as a means of defence for rivers and estuaries in the U.K. Submarine Mining Defence was transferred to the Navy and the Submarine Mining Schools had to be reorganized.

It is 34mm tall and 178cm long and available in new or aged condition.
