We believe this to be the best and only reproduction U-453 'mouse' cap badge available, with correct colours and details. It is glued together and is made from felt, ready for you to tack stich it onto your cap. It measures 55mm tall and 45mm wide.
U-453 was sunk on the 21st of May 1944 in the Ionian Sea north-east of Cape Spartivento, by depth charges from the British destroyers HMS Termagent and HMS Tenacious and the British escort destroyer HMS Liddesdale.
Notice the penultimate picture - second crew member from the right, with the pipe in hand. This could be Schubert prior to him adding a mickey mouse badge. He is standing next to Kapitänleutnant Freiherr von Schlippenbach. The cap picture is the actual cap held in the Deutsche U-Boot Museum.
The final picture is an unknown Obersteuermann, Steuermann-Oberfeldwebel or Obermechaniker from U-453.
