The tradition badge was given to the Regiment after an incident during the 1812 war of liberation against France, when a group of Dragoons from this regiment were riding their horses bareback to water, but still managed to repel a French cavalry attack. The badge was also named the "Eagle of Schwedt" (Schwedter Adler) after the regiment's garrison town.
In WW2 the following units wore the badge at various times: 2nd and 4th troops of Cavalry Regiment No. 6 & 3.; Motorcycle Battalion (Motorcycle Battalion); Reconnaissance battalions Nos. 33, 34, 36, and 179. 3rd Cavalry Brigade and the 3rd Cavalry Division.
The badge we are offering is one of several versions of the Schwedter Adler badge. It is made of gold lacquered metal and is new condition. It is copied from an original and is of museum quality, with two attachment pins just like the originals.
