This is a 'Reproine' (REPROduction/genuINE) aged, Schirmmützen cap for a Cavalry Officer. The maker is EREL and has a makers marks in the crown. The cap, traditions eagle, chinstrap and cockade are reproduction, The eagle and wreath are genuine.

The Schwedter Adler badge was worn by various cavalry units: 2nd and 4th troops of Cavalry Regiment No. 6 & 3.; Motorcycle Battalion (Motorcycle Battalion); Reconnaissance battalions Nos. 33, 34, 36, and 179. 3rd Cavalry Brigade and the 3rd Cavalry Division.
The wreath is a early war version and the eagle is a later war version, both are genuine. It has a Vulkanfibre peak and leather sweatband.
All suitable aged up to give it authentic used and worn look, original versions go for about £900 upwards if you can find a decent one for sale!
