On April 1, 1918, the Royal Air Force (RAF) was formed with the amalgamation of the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) and the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS). This reproduction badge is the first pattern badge worn by NCOs (Non Commissioned Officers) and was replaced soon after with the metal RAF badge.

This badge, is taken from an original (there were a few different versions). It is not your standard 'flat' inferior quality type, it is the correct thickness and uses mainly high quality velvet, cotton & paper.
It is 40mm wide, 65mm tall, 10mm thick and the crown is 7mm thick. The border is approximately 4mm wide.
