World War One (WW1) Chin Strap for the M16 or M17 Helmet. This strap has Steel fittings, cotton stitching and is made in Germany. We have had these made up to provide WWI Helmet collectors with the best chin-strap possible for your M16 or M17 Helmet. Optional two types of makers mark!

These are handmade in Germany and you have the option of two makers marks. When fully extended they measure approximately 57cm (centre of metal hole to centre of other metal hole), so will fit all WW1 German Helmets. In the fully closed position they measure 34cm (centre of metal hole to centre of other metal hole), so may fit some Pickelhaubes (a common practice). They vary between 1.5mm and 2mm in thickness and you have the option of two makers marks (C. HEINICHEN DRESDEN 1917 or H. MULLER & CO OFFENBACH A.M. 1916).
These are an accurate tight fit so if you are struggling to fit the loop over the helmet post just file down the inside of the loop so you get a better fit.
There may be slight rusting on the steel - this can be cleaned with wire wool. If you want 100% pristine straps please do not order these!
Be aware, neither these or the original versions were designed to fit over the peak of the helmet, if they do then you are lucky!
