Reproduction German U-Boat Kreigsmarine Chief Engineers Peaked cap. This cap has been made to look worn after a few patrols and still period. It has not been made to look 70+ years old. Think of it as frozen in time between 1943 and 1944.
The peak, liner and chinstrap etc. all show very light wear and both the inside and outside are lightly stained. Notice the gold bullion wreath and Engineers peak ranking have a hint of tarnishing. This cap displays the 'Diving Sea Bird' device for U-541 and the 10th Flotilla emblem both with slight tarnishing to them. The U-boat during this period would have be commanded by Oblt. Kurt Petersen.
The top is fully removable and the cap is marked EREL - Sonder Klasse - OKK - Berlin on both liner and sweat protector. This cap is made in Germany and the EREL mark is copyright making it even more exclusive.
This is a high quality aged peaked Hat from a U-Boat Captain with an interesting war record, having stopped the neutral Portuguese passenger liner Serpa Pinto, en route to Canada south of Bermuda, hunted for two days by four frigates and sinking the British Steam merchant ship - Livingston.
