This cap is based on the one worn by Alfred Ryder as a Captain of an old German WW1 Submarine in the series Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea in the episode entitled "The Phantom Strikes" released 16th Jan. 1966.
This cap is basically a WW1 German Officers Cap with the addition of a wool and braid peak. It has been worn lightly and 'frozen in time' - in other words not aged to look 50 years old, but to look as worn in the TV series.
