This badge is made in Germany as the originals were. We believe this to be the best reproduction U85 hat badge available.
Notice the bright silver coloured Boar with the Rose in its mouth, which was also painted on the conning tower (not a boar without a rose as some sources list). It has the correct type of pin on the reverse.
U-85 sunk three ships and was sunk on 14 April 1942 in the North Atlantic off Cape Hatteras by gunfire from the US destroyer USS Roper. All 46 crew were killed.
This badge is in new condition.
