Store > WW2 American Helmets > Airborne Helmets > WW2 USA M2 509th PIR Airborne Helmet

This is a 'reproine' helmet - mixture of reproduction and genuine parts. The shell is a genuine WW2 McCord helmet found in the south of France. It is a front seam, stainless rim and we think was originally a 'D' bale - both bales were missing but the 'foot' of one of them remained and we are confident it was a 'D' bale. The paintwork is also original.

We have added the 'D' bales, the M2 chinstrap and the 'Geronimo', NCO and gas paint markings. The chinstrap is unpainted brass and nickel which has gone dark with age.

Inside the shell seems to be a white painted number, possibly the owners army number - this is original to the helmet as is all the rusting!

This helmet is a superb 509th PIR Helmet and would look great in any collection.

If you think the 'Band of Brothers' had it tough in WW2 read about the 509th PIR here.

Summary of features:
  • The shell is original WW2 converted to M2 'D' bale by us.
  • The 'D' bales have been shaped as accurately as possible.
  • The main paintwork is original WW2 including army number inside.
  • We have added the anti-gas paint, NCO stripe & red Geronimo's.
  • The chinstraps are reproduction DOT male type and added & aged by us.

This helmet is SOLD - please email us if you want a similar helmet made to your specification.
