This is a 'reproine' helmet - mixture of reproduction and genuine parts. The shell is a genuine WW2 McCord helmet. It is a front seam, stainless rim and the main paintwork and rust is also original.
We have added the 'D' bales, the 82d Insignia , ETO stripe marking, chinstrap and MP loop. The markings are all based on an original helmet. We have treated the outer shell with preservative to bring out the helmet features. There are several very small pitted areas, so this helmet represents one found on the battlefield after approximately one year and then recovered.
Inside the shell is untouch and 'as found' other than the addition of the 'D' bales. There are several stress fractures a feature found on early war US Helmets and lots of rust, although the shell is fully sound.
This helmet is a superb 82d Airborne Helmet and would look great in any collection at a snip of a price compared to a 100% original - if you can find one!
