Reproduction & superior quality German U-Boat Kreigsmarine Chief Engineers Peaked cap. This cap has been made to look 70+ years old.
Commanded by Hans Lehmann it sunk two ships and damaged one other. U-997 was attacked by an escort ship in Nov 1944 and depth charged by an Allied U-boat hunter group in April 1945. It officially capitulated in May 1945 and was sunk by the British in Lisahally or Loch Ryan for Operation Deadlight.
The peak, liner and chinstrap etc. all show good wear and both the inside and outside are oil stained and aged. Notice the gold emblem and officers peak ranking are dark and tarnished. The top is non-removable.
The 'boot' emblem is a man with a torpedo riding a red bicycle called the 'Red Racer'. This reflects a bicycle was carried on the u-boat during several training and active service missions. It also has
emblem badges for the 9th, 13th and 14th Flotillas all in which she served.
This is a high quality aged Engineer Officers peaked Hat commanded by U-Boat Captain Hans Lehmann.
