This is a 'Reproine' (Reproduction/Genuine), helmet with a mix of genuine and reproduction parts and would look outstanding in a SS collection at a fraction of the price of a complete original.
The shell is a genuine Model 1940 (size 66), with makers mark and batch number indeterminable. It came to us in field grey paint, which we think is period paint and reasonably rusted, with slight damage to the inside rim and a hairline crack. We have left these areas 'as found' as it could have been battle damage!
We have added the Waffen SS Runes and National Socialist Swastic decals, added a museum quality replica liner and makers marked chinstrap. We have camouflaged painted the outer shell in multi tone 'Autumn' camouflage finish and aged up the complete helmet and parts. The chinstrap is sound but fragile - it should be treated as genuine as there are many age related cracks. This size of helmet (66), is getting harder to find these days and this one is in very good condtion
This represents a helmet used by the 9th SS Panzer Division Hohenstaufen during and after the battle for Arnhem in September 1944 and is based on an original camouflage helmet paint scheme.
