Reproduction size 59 German U-Boat Kreigsmarine Captains Overseas cap with 70+ years of heavy ageing. As worn by the Captain of U-124 Korvettenkapitän Georg-Wilhelm Schulz.
The cap he wore was actually a Enlisted mans overseas cap but with an officers embroidered eagle and we have reproduced this. This cap seemed to be his favourite and different from most U-boat commanders who wore the white peaked cap.
The outside cloth and insignia all show good wear and both the inside and outside are stained and aged. Notice the bullion eagle and cockade are dark and tarnished. Notice the wear, dirt and stains particularly on the top and inside of the cap. This cap displays the 'Edelweiss' badge - the symbol of U-124. While Schulz commanded U-64, it was sunk in Norway, but many of the crew were saved by the Gebirgsjäger (mountain troops). Schulz helped to supervised the rescue and in honour of the Gebirgsjäger adopted their emblem. Again this is different to why most Navy personnel wore the Edelweiss badge - for serving in Norway.
This is a high quality aged overseas hat from a U-Boat Captain with an outstanding war record, he died in 1986.
