Fliegerersatzabteilung 1 (Pilot Replacement Department 1), was set up in early 1914 in Oberschleißheim (North of Munich), until the end of the war. During the first years of the war, the aviation personnel (pilots and observers) became the Aviation Replacement Department (FEA). Later, the observers trained in separate aviation observer schools FBS. The airfield was opened in 1912, making it one of the oldest in Germany. There were 16 FEA's set up during WW1. This stamp was used to mark issued equipment and headwear.
This stamp measures 40mm wide by 19mm tall and was used on headwear and and other unit equipment. A great item for sharing amongst your your reenactment unit. We can of course use this stamp to mark up any caps you buy from warHats.
