Very high quality RNAS Officers Pilots badge with Kings Crown finished in red velvet and eagle.
The Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS) was the air arm of the Royal Navy, under the direction of the Admiralty's Air Department and existed formally from 1 July 1914 to 1 April 1918, when it was merged with the British Army's Royal Flying Corps to form the Royal Air Force, the world's first independent air force.
This badge (including the albatross), is taken from an original. It is not your standard 'flat' inferior quality, it is the correct thickness and uses mainly high quality bullion wire.
It is 64mm wide, 60mm tall, 10mm thick and the crown is 13mm thick. There is a black border of approximately 4mm. The eagle is approx 30mm wide, 8mm tall, 4mm thick and the two securing tabs are 9mm long.
Perfect for:
- displaying an original albatross/eagle
- cap and hat restorers
- RNAS/Royal Navy collectors
- Reenactors and living history
- military badge collectors
- gifts and commemorations
