M1 501st PIR Medic Helmet Fixed Bale - Reproine
This is a 'reproine' helmet - mixture of reproduction and genuine parts. The shell is a genuine WW2 McCord helmet. It is a front seam, stainless rim, fixed bale and the paintwork is also 'as found' original. The batch number '54C' dates this to February 1942 - very early helmet!
We have only added the chinstrap and the decals - everything else, including the paintwork is 'as found' and original!
Inside the shell there is original paintwork and rusting all original to the helmet, we have not touched the inside, however we have waxed the outside to preserve it. The outside has 2 coats of paint and there is a very roughly painted black 'stripe' on top - possibly used to identify the helmet to the owner. There are several stress fractures at the rear - superb!
This helmet is a lovely 501st PIR Medic Helmet and would look great in any collection. An original like this would sell for £2500+ easily - they are very desirable.
