This is a first class reproduction of a Kriegsmarine U-Boat Commanders Peaked cap showing ageing, oil markings, discoloration and wear.
This peaked cap was worn by U-boat commanders during WW2. It is heavily discolored from age and wear and has several oil and dirt markings.The black band is also very thread worn and showing ageing in places!
This hat was worn by the commander of U-37 which had a very impressive career and survived the war - 53 ships sunk, 2 warships sunk and 1 ship damaged. It survived the war and was scuttled on 8th May 1945 in Sonderburg Bay. It had four knights cross winners as commander: KrvKpt. Werner Hartmann, Kptlt. Victor Oehrn, Kptlt. Asmus Nicolai Clausen and Kptlt. Ulrich Folkers.
