This is a first class reproduction of a Kriegsmarine U-Boat Commanders tropical Hermann Meyer schirmmütze cap showing ageing, oil markings, discolouration and wear. It is based exactly on a surviving example.
This tropical peaked cap was worn by U-boat commanders during WW2. It is heavily discoloured from age and wear and has several oil and dirt markings. The whole cap is dirty, aged and worn in places and the leather
chinstrap shows superb ageing.
This cap, based on a surviving example has, as the original had: a uniform jacket Kreigsmarine metal eagle which is the worlds best reproduction; a Generals metal wreath and aluminium cockade, leather chinstrap and buckle. The whole cap is based on a Hermann Meyer Tropical cap without the rear neck guard. This is the only reproduction based on an original hat of this kind in the world that we are aware of.
