WW2 USAAF A-3 Mechanics Cap - Aged & Stained
Store > WW2 Amercian Soft Headwear > USAAF Caps > A-3 Mechanics Cap Aged & Stained
Designed for USAAF aircraft mechanics in WW2 the A-3 was soon adopted by a wide range of USAAF personnel (including flight crews), due to its lightweight, comfortable fitting and stylish 1940's design. We have made some small changes to prevent them being passed off as original!
These will take approximately 1 week to 'age' before being sent.
This reproduction, aged & stained cap has been copied from an original by us. It is made of Olive Drab #3 (OD#3), in 6 panel herringbone twill, heavy stitching and taped cotton seams on the inside just like the originals. There is a makers label on the inside, again copied from an original from a now defunct manufacturer. The rarer USAAF black ink stamp is on the wearers left hand side (blue stamping was most common). We recommend that you order an exact head size as these caps have already been wet/shrunk during the ageing process.
The cap visor can be worn in the down or up position and like many originals you can stencil it, paint on it and ink names on it with various symbols or names etc.
The cap has been aged by us to look 70+ years old but with lots of stains to look like a well used engineers cap! If you order one, expect a period of 1 week between ordering and being sent, as we age these on an order basis! Email us before ordering if you want stencilling or modifications.
We are selling two types: 'Aged without goggles' and 'Aged with goggles' - see picture of WW2 British Gas Goggles goggles in use by USAAF.
Now is you chance to own a good quality and Aged reproduction A-3 mechanics cap from the 'Ashley Hats, Inc.' manufacturer.
We notice that some of the caps are slightly smaller than the size labels - but just order the size you want and we will ensure we send the size you want regardless of what the label says!
If you want your cap stencilled or modified please email us to discuss!
If you just want a pair of genuine WW2 British Gas Goggles as worn by USAAF personnel (see picture), you can get them here.
