Soldiers from the 77th have served in most every major conflict and contingency operation from WWI, to World War II, and several gave their lives on 11 September 2001. During WW2 they fought in the Western Pacific, Southern Philippines and Ryukyus campaigns. The stencil was worn both with and without the yellow edging during WW2. This is a variation stencil for the 77th Infantry Division during WW2. The original had yellow paint and the two 'tabs' were paint in, to make a cut off pyramid shape.
