German WW2 Heer Decal

6/2/2014

Customer:

Hi, Thanks very much for the excellent service and understanding, as well as the tips. Really appreciate what you offer to the collector/reenactor community and will thoroughly recommend the site to others, hopefully one day I'll get nearly as good on one of my helmets as yours!

Kind Regards, R - UK
WarHats:

We have refunded you for the decal as discussed. If you do buy again please be aware that these decals although hard wearing when applied cannot be rubbed during the application process, you need to use a pressing motion and gently tease out the water or laquer, especially on textured helmets.
Customer:

Hi, Thanks for the advice, I tried rubbing and heating the decal just to get it to stick, as the initial glue didn't really keep it down. Think if I try it again I'll go for the lacquer glue approach, might be a bit safer. Not really happy with how it's looking at the moment, as I really just wanted the helmet to look maximum 1 or 2 years old, would it be possible to get it refunded? Really happy with the paint and aluminum powder though, have already recommended them to my reenactment group.

Thanks for your understanding and kind regards,

R - UK
WarHats:

You have actually managed to get a very good worn effect! It does look like the decal has been rubbed quite a bit in order to get this level of flaking, there is not much you can do with it now really I'm afraid and we have never had this issue reported before. However, if you are not happy please let us know and we will refund you for the decal.
Customer:

Hi, I'm really happy with the paint and aluminum oxide, which I've used to great effect to restore my helmet, however despite following the instructions on the website, the decal never really stuck properly. I later applied some lacquer to try and protect it, however it's just been flaking off ever since. I've attached a photo, and as I'm sure you can see it doesn't look ideal for a newly issued helmet.

Can you offer me any advice or help? Thanks,

R - UK
