On August 2, 1914, the 1st Squadron arrived at Bettenburg / Luxembourg under the command of the commander of the 50th Infantry Brigade, Major General Freiherr von Spessart. The regimental staff followed on 10 August 1914 with the 2nd, 3rd and 5th squadrons. These first formed the Division Cavalry Regiment of the 25th Infantry Division in the XVIII. Army Corps and in the 4th Army under the supreme command of Duke Albrecht of Württemberg. Deployment followed in the Masuria and on the Vistula. In the middle of April 1915, the regiment was subordinated to the infantry division of the Guard Corps, which was assigned to the XI. Army of Field Marshal von Mackensen belonged. The march back to the Western theater of war followed on September 20, 1915. There, the regiment was divided with one squadron each to four different infantry divisions. At the end of the war the regiment was dissolved in Mainz. The barracks on Mombacher Strasse still remain today. Comments are closed.
